devotions
Okay, so I've never actually prepared a devotion! I've done plenty of sermons. I've prepared teachings. I led prayers. But now I have to prepare a 6-7 minute devotion for my annual meeting with DCOM! Luckily I have two weeks to prepare!

Full Day of Work!
Here's to putting in a full day of work! Jack's been sick, so Mike and I have been tag team parenting. I work until two and then when I get home he heads out to work! Actually, I've been rather sick myself -- it's very tiring to cough all day, my neck and shoulders hurt, my chest is killing me--so I've enjoyed the extra couch time -- although it didn't help me to get any reading done--between Wife Swap and NCIS I was glued to the tv!
I really do need to get reading though. I need to get my sermon prep work done for the after Easter series I'm planning on "Jesus prays" from Eugene Peterson's new book "Tell It Slant". I also have only the vaguest idea for Palm Sunday and the two Easter services!! Maybe it's just being sick the last two months (nothing serious, but annoying sinus stuff).
I also did get the class lists for SCOS year four, haven't had time to look at them though! Need to, need to get the books ordered and prioritized for reading and writing!

Haven't been away!
I haven't even checked in here, so I didn't realize I had been gone so long! But since I don't have a loyal following it doesn't seem to matter!! Some of my favorite bloggers have just returned from a long hiatus.
Things are always crazy in January as the adult study resumes (for six weeks) and just as that ended, my SS teacher decided to take a break so now I have the younger elementary kids (the only kids we have!!) on Sunday mornings as well as leading gathering praise and being the pastor! Gotta love the small church! The only thing I don't have a part in is the Youth which has reorganized in a joint effort with the other small UMC in town. However, I don't want to let that go completely so I have planned to lead the meeting the Wednesday before the 30 Hour Famine. I'll be using the youth portion of the One Sunday material with Rob Bell's 'Rich' video.
I'm also registered for fourth year course of study at Duke and am waiting for the curriculum list to be published. (I'm currently reading a book a month for the pastor's incubator group, doing the Bishop's gift devotional, doing Discipleship Essentials with my day job staff -- but for March we are doing Revealed daily devotional instead).
Jack didn't play basketabll this winter so we actually had a few Saturdays in a row without any commitments, but that is going to end next week when indoor soccer resumes! Aurora is living with her sorority sisters this year so she isn't so dependent on us coming out every week to feed her and vacuum -- we actually only got out about three times this school year (she comes home most weekends that she's not driving to Cinci).
So even though I haven't been sharing my life -- it's been full!!
I'm just listening for God to tell me what's next for me. I've been on this same path for five/six years and am thinking it may be time to step up and out again.
